Estimar
Estimar, the new album by Manel Camp, is much more than just another chapter in his career: it is an essential return to the purest form of solo piano and a heartfelt statement of life through music. Decades after first exploring this format in Cançons (1999), Camp invites us once again on an intimate journey through the music that has shaped his personal and professional path.
Throughout his distinguished career, Manel Camp has been the pianist and arranger of choice for the greatest voices of Catalan song —Lluís Llach, Raimon, Maria del Mar Bonet, Marina Rossell and Joan Manuel Serrat, among others— and has also composed extensively for symphony orchestra, chamber ensembles and film, always with a unique and sensitive touch. In Estimar, eight timeless pieces —by Jorge Drexler, Sting, Hiromi Uehara, Carole King, Lluís Llach, Leonard Bernstein, Silvio Rodríguez and Billy Joel— are reimagined under his hands with delicacy, deep respect and a distinctive voice, alongside an original composition, Origen, that completes this musical portrait. Far from being simple covers, Camp offers profound reinterpretations where every note speaks of love, friendship, roots and memory.
